Following its full house premiere at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, “The Taming of the Shrew” was performed this past weekend in York, as part of the York International Shakespeare Festival.
It was a joy to see this bold, contemporary production travel and connect with a new audience. At the heart of this performance conceived and directed by Ema Nicola is a fantastic cast of London-based Romanian actors: Alin Balascan, Maria Alexe, Eddie Pop and Halima Habil.
The performance was followed by a lively Q&A session, where an enthusiastic audience engaged the team with thoughtful and witty questions, continuing the dialogue sparked on stage.
We would like to thank once again the entire creative team for their dedication and vision, and to extend our particular gratitude to Festival Director Philip Parr for making this collaboration possible.
Grateful to everyone who contributed to this memorable experience, on stage and in the audience alike. Theatre continues to bring us together in the most meaningful ways.
