Metamorphosis, a recital by Duo Kitharsis

Updated: 2 days ago

A memorable evening in the Enescu Concerts Series as Duo Kitharsis (Alexandra Petrișor and Dragoș Horghidan) brought the guitar – a rarely featured instrument in the series – to the forefront, in a recital of remarkable artistry, imagination and expressive depth.

Introduced by RCI London Director Aura Woodward, the programme took audiences on a fascinating musical journey through a rich variety of styles, periods and sound worlds, revealing the extraordinary versatility of the classical guitar. With warmth, elegance and impeccable musicianship, the duo captivated the audience throughout, earning enthusiastic and well-deserved rounds of applause.

A particular highlight of the evening was the world premiere of the duo’s own arrangement of George Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 for two guitars. It was a truly astonishing achievement: so vivid and richly textured that one could almost hear the colours and grandeur of the full orchestra emerging from just two instruments. The performance left a lasting impression on all present and offered a fresh perspective on one of the most beloved works in the Romanian repertoire.

Our sincere thanks to Duo Kitharsis for an unforgettable evening, and to everyone who joined us.
