Last week we had the joy of opening the Brâncuși 150 Season with an immersive multidisciplinary event - and what an evening it was! ✨ A full house and an incredibly enthusiastic audience filled our historic building at 1 Belgrave Square for a celebration that unfolded across music, visual art, technology, and reflection.
The evening opened with welcoming remarks from RCI London director Aura Woodward, who introduced the Institute’s wider programme of events dedicated to this landmark anniversary in 2026. She was followed by Her Excellency Laura Popescu, Romania’s ambassador to London, who reflected on the symbolism of Brâncuși Day in Romania and underscored the profound significance of Brâncuși’s legacy within international art.
In the Enescu Room, audiences experienced a truly memorable recital by Alexandru Tomescu and Sînziana Mircea, whose masterful interpretation and artistic chemistry brought extraordinary depth and emotion to an appealing programme featuring works by Béla Bartók, George Enescu and Manuel de Falla, alongside Sînziana Mircea’s own composition inspired by the well-known Romanian folk song Ciuleandra. The performance was further enriched by evocative photographic projections by Ioana Hameeda, creating a powerful dialogue between sound and image.
The journey then continued into the Brâncuși Gallery for the opening of Endless Light & Sculpture Garden exhibition by Project Para - an immersive installation of light, sound, objects created by Alina Moise and Iustin Baisan, with sound design by Vlad Dodoiu. Using 3D-printed objecrs made from recycled PET plastic, the exhibition reimagines Brâncuși’s philosophical pursuit of essential forms through a contemporary lens of sustainability and renewal, creating an intimate environment that invites contemplation and quiet attentiveness. In the opening, designers Alina Moise and Iustin Băisan explored the creative process behind the exhibition and the role of sustainability, material reduction and digital narratives in today’s artistic practice.
It was a pleasure to welcome, to London, the Vice Mayor of Târgu Jiu, Mr Adrian Tudor - thank you for your support and for this meaningful partnership with the Municipality of Târgu Jiu.
Many thanks to all guest creatives and to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable start to the season!
