Pianist Alexandra Dariescu is one of Romania’s brightest stars. We were thrilled to host the launch of her 9th album at The Romanian Cultural Institute in London.

Born in Iasi, Alexandra Dariescu is a classical concert pianist, educator, mentor and producer. In recent years, she performed on the world’s most prestigious stages, from Albert Hall, Wigmore and Carnegie Hall to Concertgebouw and Musikverein, alongside major orchestras. In 2018, Alexandra played a significant role in marking Romania’s centennial as a modern state – it was also the centennial of Dinu Lipatti’s birth – by performing two concerts in one evening with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London: Grieg's piano concerto and the premiere in the UK of Dinu Lipatti’s concertoino.

Alexandra Dariescu’s new album features Clara Schumann and Edvard Grieg, following a pattern she adopted years ago to promote women composers and musicians alongside the names of well-known male composers. The launch of Alexandra Dariescu’s new album coincided with her birthday 🎉! A special evening celebrating success, talent and hard work, surrounded by wonderful guests, friends and members of our community in the United Kingdom.
