Acclaimed Mezzosoprano Ruxandra Donose

and Pianist Sergiu Tuhuțiu in Recital at RCI London

ree

Yesterday evening, our elegant Enescu Room, host of the Romanian Cultural Institute in London's most appreciated permanent programme, Enescu Concerts Series, welcomed a stunning duo - mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose and pianist Sergiu Tuhuțiu, who have been working together for over 12 years!

The numerous and enthusiastic audience rewarded the musicians with standing ovations and thoroughly enjoyed the carefully selected programme, which highlighted not only the diverse expressiveness of opera and lied, but also the sensitivity of the Romanian romance, the charm of the canzonetta, and the refinement of the chanson.

The evening was opened by our director Aura Woodward, who, after a warm introduction, passed the floor to musicologist Oltea Șerban Pârâu for a talk aimed at contextualising the repertoire and encouraging intercultural dialogue.

As ever, our heartfelt thanks go to the brilliant musicians and excellent public. A special thank you for the presence to HE Laura Popescu, the Ambassador of Romania to the UK and to the great soprano Nelly Miricioiu! It's worth mentioning that in the audience last night were many musicians, friends of the RCI London, and its guests. Thank you Vlad Maistorovici, Adriana Festeu, Ilona Sofia Nastase, and Anda Anastasescu to name just a few!

This recital was part of the series of events Fairy-Tale Recitals… Everywhere / Turneedepoveste, organised by Pro Contemporania and funded by the Department for Romanians Abroad / Departamentul pentru Românii de Pretutindeni, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.

Thank you to AQUA Carpatica for helping us quench our thirst!
