celebrating the astonishing biodiversity of Romania in an event featuring artists, botanists and publishers

Such a joy to have brought The Transylvania Florilegium, a breathtaking collection of rare Romanian flora, to 1 Belgrave Square! The 2-volume edition is now on permanent display in our gallery. ✨
Born from HM King Charles III's deep affection for Romania and developed over six years, this extraordinary work brought together some of the world’s finest botanical artists, guided by the vision of botanist John Akeroyd and botanical artist Helen Allen. Published by Addison Publications and curated by Lady Henrietta Pearson, the Florilegium serves as a testament to Romania’s rich biodiversity.
At our special event organised on Tuesday night, attendees explored a curated exhibition of 20 stunning botanical watercolours. They heard inspiring insights from Dr. John Akeroyd, Helen Allen and Lady Henrietta Pearson of Addison Publications, in a conversation moderated by RCI London Director Aura Woodward. The three guests discussed the origins of the project and the fascinating and complex process that led to the production of the florilegium.
Many thanks to our guests speakers, Addison Publications, and everyone who joined us!
