Voices of Freedom: Romania at the London Book Fair.
Connecting the Dots Towards Translations
Romania's 14th participation at The London Book Fair! We warmly welcomed Romanian publishers, authors, translators, cultural operators and all those who promote Romanian writers and culture at our stand, B610.
This is the first global event of the year which brings together professionals from the publishing industry. At the official opening of our beautiful stand, HE Laura Popescu, Romania’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, addressed the audience stressing that since the 1989 Revolution, Romanian authors have emerged as beacons of innovation and excellence, garnering international acclaim and reshaping the literary landscape. The Director of the National Book Center / Centrul Național al Cărţii, Dana Ionescu talked about the importance of the translation and publication support programmes that the Romanian Cultural Institute offers and of the editorial and cultural networks they weave around them. The Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, Aura Woodward thanked everyone who attended and highlighted the need for more translations of Romanian writers into English and the support provided by the Institute in London by organising book launches and literary events.
Among those who attended the official opening of Romania’s stand at #LBF24 were authors, translators, editors, booksellers, cultural animators and lovers of Romanian literature.
The Romanian Cultural Institute offered a series of events connected to the fair allowing the general public to connect with Romanian authors, translators and artists.
