Gala Concert in the Scottish Capital

for Romania’s National Day

On Monday, 16 December, our second concert celebrating the National Day of Romania was organised in partnership with the Consulate General of Romania in Edinburgh/ Consulatul General al României la Edinburgh and hosted by the imposing St Giles' Cathedral. Adriana Cristea - Violinist and pianist Mina Beldimanescu enchanted the audience with an attractive repertoire comprising works by Fauré and Bartók, as well as pieces by some of Romania’s most notable composers: George Enescu, Mircea Chiriac, Constantin Dimitrescu and Angheluș Dinicu.

RCI London director Aura Woodward welcomed the audience and congratulated the vibrant musicians who enlightened the evening. HE Mrs. Laura Popescu, the Romanian ambassador in London, and Andreea Berechet, Romania's consul general in Edinburgh, addressed those present with speeches related to the historical significance of 1 December, when all Romanian provinces came together.

The event welcomed the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Cllr. Robert Aldridge brought together local officials, members of the Edinburgh consular body and members of the Romanian community.
