We are pleased to announce that between March 14-17, ICR London organized, in collaboration with the Kinth Square theatre company, the British premiere of the play “Dad is not my friend” by Grace Spencer (Inna Cebotari), directed by Sava Cebotari, at The Cockpit Theatre in London, one of the most important theatre stages for the fringe category. The play represents the dramatic debut of actress Inna Cebotari (Grace Spencer). The event marked the opening of the theatre season for the institute, with seven performances taking place under ideal conditions, both scenically and in terms of audience engagement, featuring a specialised audience, critics, and theatre agents.

The play was remarkably performed by the three British actors, Gus Flind-Henry, Marcavia McCarthy and Eisa Latif, who demonstrated real vocal, movement and acting skills.

The show explores the relationship between three young people and their immigrant parents, strongly feeling the split between tradition - the family's place of origin, and the children's need to integrate into the country in which they were born. The themes debated by the show included the relationship between children and parents, the soul's impulses and social class differences, identity crises, inclusion, cultural differences, and the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence. The performances were extremely well received by the general public, mostly British, young artists, representatives of the British cultural environment and representatives of several diaspora communities present in London.

The director of The Cockpit Theatre, Dave Wybrow, said about the show: “Dad is Not my Friend – it is a very good example of innovative, elegant multimedia theatre that raises important issues.”

Following the presentation and its success, the show "Dad is not my friend" entered this year's selection of the International Edinburgh Festival - fringe section.
