We had the absolute joy of opening CHASING LIGHT at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, alongside Dr. Diana Andreescu, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at the West University in Timișoara (FAD UVT), and the two curators. The event was opened with a welcome address by RCI London director Aura Woodward.

Marking 35 years since the Faculty’s reopening after being banned under communism, the exhibition looks back at its remarkable legacy and celebrates the alumni who went on to shape Romanian and international contemporary art. It is accompanied by a beautiful publication highlighting the creative journey of these artists, fresh out from the prestigious Kerber Berlin.

On display are powerful and diverse works by: Aura Balanescu, Dinu Bodiciu, Mimi Ciora, Ciprian Ciuclea, Victor Drujiniu, Bogdan Matei, Andreea Medar, Antonio Meze, Laurian Popa, Mircea Popescu, Bogdan Rata, Cristian Sida, Miki Velciov, Victor Vulpe and Mihai Zgondoiu.

Masterfully curated by internationally acclaimed artists Mihai Zgondoiu and Bogdan Rața, the show will be open to visitors until 10 October, Monday to Friday between 10 AM – 5 PM, and 11 AM – 5 PM during the Open House weekend, on 20 & 21 September.

Many thanks to the fantastic FAD UVT team for this collaboration, and to everyone who navigated London’s transport strike to be with us!
