About the event
The Romanian Cultural Institute in London, in partnership with Epilogue, invites readers to an intimate and informal book club discussion dedicated to Romanian-born philosopher Emil Cioran and his provocative book The Trouble with Being Born (Penguin, 2020). Rather than a traditional author talk, this evening is an invitation to read, reflect and share. We encourage participants to read the book beforehand and join us to share their thoughts, questions, favourite passages and personal interpretations. There is no need to be an expert on Cioran or on philosophy: the conversation is intended to be open, relaxed and participative, with the book itself providing the starting point for an exchange of ideas.
The evening will open with a short introduction by Ioana Dumitrescu, founder and coordinator of Epilogue, offering an insight into Cioran’s life, work and distinctive intellectual universe. This will be followed by an open discussion with the audience, creating space…
