About the event
The first Romanian community choir of carol singers will perform in Trafalgar Square on 16 December to celebrate Romanian traditions in front of an international audience. The heart of London will become the canvas for a mesmerizing celebration of Christmas in the most authentic Romanian style. Clad in traditional costumes representing all historical provinces of our country, 50 members of the Romanian community in London, both adults and children, will sing their hearts out in one of the most vibrant and legendary Christmas outdoor spaces in London. The Romanian Cultural Institute in London joins forces with Roconect Association to enable this event and to share the joy of Romanian traditional singing.
Most kindly, the London City Council offered a generous space for the Romanian singers. Local audiences and tourists alike will have a glimpse of Romania’s century-old Christmas traditions displayed through music and exquisite hand-made outfits.
Cornelius Orășanu, pianist and conductor of the Allegretto Music Academy in London, has the task of recruiting the best voices for the choir. Through his skill and dedication, the music group will serve as a bridge, uniting the Romanian communities across the UK in this unique project that we hope will become a permanent fixture.
Those who wish to join the first Romanian Carol Singers Choir are kindly asked to send a vocal demo to office@roconect.org.
