About the event

35 years after the fall of communism in Romania, we invite you to reflect on this defining chapter in the country’s history with a multifaceted programme of events spanning four weeks. The event will kick off with the inauguration of “35 Years and One Day”, an outdoor documentary exhibition that delves into Romania’s dark past, followed by the screening of Tudor Giurgiu’s “Freedom” (2023). Throughout the remaining weeks, the Institute will welcome visits from local schools and institutions, offering guided tours of the exhibition and the imposing architectural gem located at 1 Belgrave Square.

Partners: IICMER and the Embassy of Romania in the UK.

“35 Years and One Day” was developed by RCI London in collaboration with The Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile (IICCMER). Through a selection of historical photographs and narratives, the exhibition sheds light on the hardships and struggles…
